Choosing a WordPress theme? Not sure what to do?

Here are some suggestions.

This website uses Branford Magazine theme, which is a free theme available from Michael Oeser.

It’s one of many magazine-style WordPress themes.   If you search at Google (or any search engine) for “wordpress magazine themes” or “free magazine-style wordpress themes” or similar phrases, you’ll see many of them.

If you decide that you like Branford Magazine  best, here are some tools to keep in mind.

Download my free, illustrated report: How to add new articles to any website using Branford Magazine theme [PDF].  It’s based on one of the earlier versions of Branford Magazine… the one that I still use.  But, except for Custom Fields, most of the information will work with any edition of Branford Magazine.

Other options

Keep in mind that Branford Magazine is not your only option when you’d like a magazine-style theme.

You may find another theme that you like better, or one that’s similar but easier to use.

Mimbo 3.0 – Before there was Branford, there was Mimbo. You’ll recognize the similar elements right away. Mimbo is a great theme! If you hate custom fields and want an easier theme with more widget freedom, you’ll love Mimbo.

Studio Press – Formerly “Revolution,” this is another WordPress theme series that inspired the later creation of Branford Magazine. You’ll see the similarities immediately.

Yes, Studio Press themes must be purchased, but take a look at the variations. Wow!

Studio Press themes are very similar to Branford Magazine, and have a learning curve as well. However, the themes are available with service packages to eliminate most installation headaches.

Branford Magazine is a great theme.  I’ve used it for over a year, and I’ve liked it.  However, it’s not your only choice.

Take a look at the alternatives.  Compare reviews.
