My Favorite WordPress Plugins
Feb 7th, 2010 | By Aisling | Category: Plugins
Free plugins are wonderful. I use several when I install WordPress themes.
Plugins can make your website more interesting and personal. For me, it’s part of the creative process, when I’m customizing a website.
The following are among my current “top 10″ favorites, listed in alphabetical order. They’re easy to use, even for a beginner. They’ll save you time and headaches, leaving you free to share more great information with your website visitors.
- Add to Any – Makes it easy for people to share links to your articles via Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, etc.
- Akismet – It comes with WordPress and it eliminates most spam.
- AmazonSimpleAdmin – If you’re an Amazon affiliate, this allows you to link to products with just their ISBN number. An attractive display (with the lowest prices) can lead to extra commissions.
- Broken Link Checker – Broken links reduce your credibility. Add this plugin and you’ll always know if your links are good.
- Comment License – Let your visitors know the terms they agree to when they comment. Completely customizable.
- Contact Form 7 – Easy to use, cut-and-paste one line of code into a Page called “Contact.”
- Dagon Design Sitemap Generator – Copy-and-paste one line into the HTML screen of any Page or Post at your website. You’ll have a complete, customizable sitemap that automatically updates itself.
- Delink Comment Author – If spammers leave acceptable comments but their link is a spam (or porn) site, you can approve the comment without their link. Bliss!
- Google XML Sitemap Generator – Vital to be sure that Google indexes your website and keeps your listings current. Install it and it runs on auto-pilot.
- Secure WordPress – One-click installation provides you with peace of mind and a more secure website.

Though this comment was flagged as spam, I’m approving it so that I can reply to it. I’m not sure which “test” you’re talking about.
Generally, installing a WordPress plugin isn’t that complicated. If the “install” or “upload” button works, you’re all set.
I’ve never had any problem installing a plugin with Branford Magazine, as long as the plugin has been updated for the latest version of WordPress, and it has broad compatibility.
Sincerely,
Aisling
Bernice,
I’m glad that I could be helpful. Though I use several other plugins, these are definitely my favorites.
Good luck with your thesis!
Cheerfully,
Aisling
